Looking Back on a Successful Year

Accordio MD to chair key accreditation committee

Accordio managing director Rob Neil has been elected vice-chair (and chair-elect) of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT’s Academic Accreditation Committee.

BCS has many responsibilities under its Royal Charter, including developing and maintaining standards in educational qualifications designed to prepare students for a career in computing or information systems.

As part of this responsibility, BCS undertakes a programme of visits to universities and other higher education institutions to review computing courses with a view to granting them Chartered IT Professional (CITP) accreditation – BCS’s own qualification.

Additionally, as a Nominated Body of the Engineering Council, BCS is licensed to accredit courses at Chartered or Incorporated Engineer level.

The Academic Accreditation Committee oversees this activity, ensuring that standards are maintained and remain relevant to the needs of the UK’s IT industry.

Rob commented: “I’m delighted to have been asked to chair the AAC. Technology education is vitally important to the UK and I’m pleased to be able to support BCS, my professional body, in its work to encourage professionalism across the IT industry. Our goal is to ensure that graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills they will need to make a success of their chosen careers.”
